Movement Privacy Policy
Effective August 20, 2026 · Last updated August 20, 2026
Movement is designed to help you record exercise activity while keeping your information under your control. This Privacy Policy explains what information Movement processes, where it is stored, and the choices available to you.
Who We Are
Movement is developed by Jacob Wallin ("we," "us," or "our"). For privacy questions, contact us at support@jacobwallin.dev.
Information Processed by Movement
Movement processes information that you choose to enter or configure in the app, including:
- exercise entries, such as the exercise, number of repetitions or duration, and the date and time;
- custom exercises and exercise preferences;
- goals and goal history;
- reminder preferences and reminder times; and
- app settings, such as appearance and the time at which a new activity day begins.
This information is used only to provide Movement's features, including activity history, goals, progress views, and reminders.
On-Device Storage and iCloud
Movement stores your information on your device. When you are signed into iCloud, have iCloud Drive enabled, and allow Movement to use iCloud, Movement also stores this information in your private iCloud database so it can remain available and up to date across your Apple devices.
We do not operate a separate server for your Movement data. We do not receive your exercise entries, goals, or settings, and we cannot use CloudKit developer tools to inspect arbitrary users' private databases. Your use of iCloud is governed by your agreement with Apple and Apple's privacy policy.
Notification authorization, whether a particular device delivers reminders, app appearance, and logging defaults remain only on that device and do not synchronize through Movement's CloudKit database.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, Movement requests permission to send notifications. Reminder preferences are processed by the app, and notifications are scheduled through Apple's notification system. You can change Movement's notification permission at any time in your device's Settings app.
Information We Do Not Collect
Movement does not require you to create an account. The app does not contain advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not use Movement to collect:
- your name, email address, phone number, or physical address;
- precise or approximate location;
- contacts, photos, camera, or microphone data;
- HealthKit data;
- advertising identifiers; or
- browsing activity across other apps or websites.
We do not track you, build advertising profiles, or sell your information.
App Store Analytics and Diagnostics
Apple may provide us with aggregated or privacy-protected App Store analytics, crash reports, and performance information when users have chosen to share that information with Apple and app developers. We may use this information to diagnose problems and improve Movement. Apple controls this collection under its own privacy terms. Movement does not include a third-party analytics or crash-reporting service.
Support Communications
If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and the contents of your message. We use it to respond to your request, troubleshoot problems, and maintain reasonable support records. Please do not include sensitive information that is not needed to answer your request.
Support communications may be processed by the email service used to receive and respond to your message. We do not use support information for advertising and do not sell it.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell or rent personal information. Information is shared only in the following limited circumstances:
- with Apple when necessary to provide iCloud, App Store, notification, or related platform services;
- with service providers used to process support communications, subject to their applicable privacy and security obligations; or
- when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, or respond to valid legal process.
Retention and Deletion
Information stored locally remains on your device until you delete it within Movement or delete the app. Movement allows you to edit and delete exercise entries and other user-created information.
Changes and deletions made in Movement synchronize through iCloud when sync is available. You can disable Movement's access to iCloud in your device settings. Apple also provides controls for reviewing and deleting data stored by third-party apps in iCloud. Deleting Movement from one device may not by itself delete information already stored in iCloud or present on another device.
Support communications are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, keep appropriate support records, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes. You may ask us to delete a support communication by contacting us, subject to any information we must retain for legal or security reasons.
Your Choices and Rights
You can access, correct, and delete Movement data using the controls in the app and on your Apple devices. Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights concerning personal information we hold about you, including rights to request access, correction, or deletion, or to object to certain processing.
Because we do not maintain user accounts or receive your private Movement database, we generally cannot access or retrieve the exercise information stored on your device or in your private iCloud database. Requests concerning information submitted in a support communication can be sent to support@jacobwallin.dev.
Children's Privacy
Movement is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a support request, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Movement's features or data practices change. We will update the date at the top of this page and publish the revised policy at the same URL. Material changes will be communicated in an appropriate manner when required.
